Founded in 1982 by Bruce Bukas, the original company known as Fantastic Creations started as retail lighting stores with six brick-and-mortar locations around the Chicagoland area. In over 40 years, the company has expanded and transformed numerous times into a fully integrated designer and manufacturer of superior, long-lasting luminaires.

Fantastic Creations established
Predominantly selling decorative luminaires, track lighting, recessed lighting, and fans. The business launched with six brick and mortar store front locations.

Fantastic Creations becomes FC Lighting
As business interest in Bruce & Scott’s endeavors grew, so did the need to expand into other market segments. Focus soon shifted to outdoor architectural lighting solutions for pathway, façade and landscape applications. One of their first product family introductions was the renowned FCSL100 Series Step Light (recently updated with the new 1100 series 30 years later!).

Solid State Luminaires launched
As LED technology becomes more prominent, the SSL brand is launched. SSL’s focus was initially towards high performance, specification grade, interior linear and recessed solutions. Successfully introduced the second LED cove light in the industry.
Relocation to St. Charles, IL
To meet growing product demand, Bruce moves the brands to the St. Charles facility, doubling in size to 100,000 sq ft. The transition into complete vertical integration begins a new era. Construction of an all new in-house 8 stage powder coating facility materializes.
SSL Introduces New Products
Outdoor LED Linear and Round Projector luminaires for architectural soffits, facades, and signage are introduced.
ITL Testing Lab is created
Bruce invests in a state-of-the-art Compliance Facility for ITL luminaire testing. Beginning with 1/4 Satellite ETL Level 4 / NVLAP Facilities in North America.
To date – our ITL facility is qualified to conduct over 285+ different compliance tests in house.
On-site compliance manager with over 35+ years’ experience working for Intertek, UL, Product Safety Consultants, etc.
Now 1/3 Hazardous Location labs in the world!

Bruce starts BLG and prepares for expansion via M&A.
Paramount Industries is acquired. Originally founded in 1947, Paramount has provided industrial lighting solutions for demanding environments for over 75 years.
SPI Lighting Acquired
Lighting Innovations expands, adding 30,000 sq ft manufacturing facility and relocates Paramount from Croswell, MI to St. Charles, IL.
SPI Lighting in Mequon, WI is acquired. Founded in the 1970’s, SPI is a leading designer & manufacturer of American Made LED architectural luminaires.
LI advances technology
The welding department of Lighting Innovations transitions to state-of-the-art laser welding technology, improves fabrication processes, and incorporates new Quality Control systems. These updates, along with our dedication to precision, quality, and efficiency - ensure our brands remain at the forefront of the lighting industry, delivering superior lighting solutions to our customers.
iWorks Brands Acquired
Hospitality iWorks Brands in Los Angeles, CA is acquired. Founded in 1990, iWorks is a vertically integrated, custom lighting fabricator specializing in unique luminaires and architectural appointments. Sister companies include DAS and Light Annex.
